This past January I took a cruise with my wife and 12 of her friends in the Caribbean. I took the opportunity to eat, read, draw and get a sense of the islands. They cruise passengers, the crew and the islanders were an anthropological contrast. The islands are pretty much the same, with economies based on the cruise season. The liners dock and the passengers exit the ship heading toward local shopping. The same drill happens pretty much every day. The crew was from either Bali or the Philippines. They were a joy. This painting is the result of my appreciating their very pleasant and gracious service combined with Caribbean color.
