This  triptych was inspired by single figure floating on an inner tube during an afternoon spent on the Rio Grande in northern New Mexico. The soft river current is depicted in varying shades of green, suggesting light and shadow playing on its surface, and the brushstrokes are loose and expressive, conveying a sense of movement in the water. The contrast between the red of the tube and the green water creates a visually striking, classic image while the bird's-eye view of the figure suggest that the paintings are a contemporary example of figurative painting. The three paintings that comprise the triptych are framed in a black floater frame.
