Wings I presents a balanced dialogue between natural fragility and industrial presence. The composition is divided into two contrasting sections: one textured with rough, handmade paper layered over tree bark, and the other composed of delicate insect wings arranged with measured spacing beneath a subtle translucent encaustic surface. A vertical rusted metal strip acts as a quiet boundary, its weathered surface recalling time and corrosion. Waxed linen threads extend from this metal divider, bridging the two halves with fine, tactile lines that suggest connection amid division. The piece invites viewers to consider the tension between decay and preservation, and how elements from nature and human manufacture intersect in moments of quiet transformation.
