A River Runs Through It is an altered books piece made up of 20 discarded books attached to 3/4" black foam core. All of the books have been folded using the single fold method. The various patinas ranging from white to gold are the result of the aging over time of the paper in the books. The books are held in place by long 7" nails and glue which are inserted from the back of the piece. Shorter rusted nail heads have been used on the tops of the books for a decorative effect. The finished piece has the appearance of city sky scrapers while the shorter books suggest a river running through the city. The wooden frame has a rusted metallic appearance with nail like heads which complements the decorative nails used on the books. This unique art piece is finished with wires on the back ready to hang vertically or horizontally.
