While recovering from back surgery, I was walking on a blacktop path when I notices the dark black tar repair lines. I was beginning to feel alive again after a debilitating back problem so the black repair lines became a symbol of me being repaired and gaining a "new life", hence the name "Life Lines". The under painting is acrylic to which I added collage materials. Rice paper covers the entire surface allowing the under painting and collage material to fade back. A black acrylic paint line forms a focal point. The edges are painted the same color as the under painting. The piece is wired and ready for hanging.
