My collection of rusted can lids were the primary inspiration for the work. I remember looking out of an airplane observing irrigated fields and imagining what they might look like without the water, and my rusty lids came to mind. Each layer of handmade paper is treated with encaustic for stability, durability and texture. The piece is wired to hang and signed on the back.
